Republic of Fiji: October 2016

Dr. Marilyn Hinrichs (Audiologist) and staff at Advanced Hearing Center (AHC), a private audiology practice in Dallas, TX, visited Fiji and partnered with the Oticon Hearing Foundation and Project H.E.A.V.E.N. to provide audiological care and hearing aid fittings to underserved children in rural villages and schools.

Dr. Hinrichs and staff, in partnership with the Oticon Hearing Foundation, work to support nonprofit humanitarian initiatives to provide hearing care access for people and communities in need.

“We are proud to partner with the Oticon Foundation to provide audiology services to underprivileged kids. We are a company committed to addressing the hearing and balance needs of our patients, as well as working together to empower them with improved hearing and communication skills. We’re excited to work with an organization that shares our same beliefs and goals.”

The day was filled with soccer games, other outdoor sports, and arts and crafts. Though the events were fun, the main focus was on providing hearing care and education for the children and the staff that works at the schools.

“It was emotionally rewarding to fit the kids with hearing aids and quite heartwarming to see them smiling and playing afterward knowing that we helped to make a big difference in their lives,” noted Dr. Hinrichs.

“We plan on continuing to be a part of this ongoing project and similar events in the future, so we can use our expertise and Oticon products to better the hearing of those in need.”

Along with the charitable organization Project H.E.A.V.E.N., AHC provided hearing testing, cerumen removal, hearing aid fittings and ear care education to over 300 underserved kids in Fiji.

Charitable Contributions

At Advanced Hearing Center, we’re dedicated to donating our time to assist children whose families lack the funds to obtain audiology services and/or purchase hearing devices.

We work closely with the DFW area school districts to collect donations to cover the cost of hearing devices, plus donate our audiological services. This gives these children a chance to develop normal communication skills and prevents any delays in their education.

Hearing Conservation Program

Our goal is to prevent hearing loss where possible, provide comprehensive testing when there are concerns and make appropriate recommendations when help is needed.

We are committed to the preservation and protection of the priceless gift of hearing. Our Hearing Conservation Program provides educational awareness of occupational and recreational sound hazards to ensure a lifetime of safe hearing.

Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent damage to the inner ear. It is preventable by using ear protection whenever you are exposed to loud noise, limiting the time you are exposed to the noise and reduction noise to a safe level.
